Summer is almost here! You’re looking forward to the long drawn out nights, the succulent BBQs in the evening and most importantly – the lovely warm weather.
Surely the last thing on your mind would be looking for a wood burning stove right? Wrong! Here is why you should consider investing in a wood-burning stove this summer.
If you are a little unsure; a wood-burning stove is a fire/stove that is powered by the burning of a fuel which in this case is wood.
So why should you buy a wood-burning stove in the summer time?
Well, there are a plethora of reasons to delve into. For one, British weather is so unpredictable that you never know when the temperature is going to drop below 10 degrees. Therefore it is always good to be prepared by having a new warm stove to help heat the home should the occasion arise.
Even if the weather holds out, there are plenty of other reasons to invest in a wood-burning stove.
A big deciding factor for you could be that they will be far cheaper to buy during the summer than they would be in the winter. Most people purchase their stoves and fireplaces in the Autumn months to prepare themselves for the cold winter, which makes sense.
But you could easily get ahead of the game by getting your stove far in advance. By doing this, you will find them to be much cheaper and a lot of them on sale.
Choosing a stove can be a bit of process within itself. Picture the scene.
You have decided to buy a stove to help you get through the cold harsh winter, it is now late in October. After arriving at the showroom, you realise that your dream stove is gone and there isn’t many options that will fit your current home. It’s a nightmare, we know.
Buying your stove in Summer would help you avoid this entire situation. You can pop down to the showroom in the middle of July and have the full selection available to you.
You will have a lot more options as these stoves will be less in demand, with people being too busy buying parasols and inflatable swimming pools. Not only will you find one best suited to your home, but you will be able to find one that suits you too.
Once you have got your stove, you will need to have it installed into your home.
We install the majority of our fireplaces and stoves at Amber Glow, but the lines of installation lead time does increase slightly in the Winter. In the Winter season, you’d be looking at around 6 – 8 weeks for an installation, whereas the Summer is more like 3 – 4 weeks.
Not many people will be thinking about getting stoves installed so you might as well use that to your advantage to get it all set up.
A chimney and a stove go pretty much hand in hand, so when purchasing a stove it is essential to get your chimney swept before the installation to make sure it is all clear.
Luckily, if you sort this out in the Summer, the availability of the chimney sweeps will be much more accessible due to their schedules being a lot more free.
Once again it will be a lot harder to get a chimney sweep in the Winter as they will be busy doing everyone else’s. However if you beat them to the punch by getting it done in Summer, you will have no problems in getting a slot.
In addition, if a chimney sweep identifies a problem or an issue with your chimney, declaring unfit for the time being, you can get this issue resolved and squared away long before the Winter months begin to spark up. This will save you a lot of money and hassle in the long run as you will not have to worry about this when winter arrives.
- More Choice
- Easier Installation
- More Access To Chimney Sweeps
While it may not make much sense when you first hear it, investing in a stove in the Summer period has many financial benefits that you can use to your advantage to get ahead of the game.
Some may look at it as a silly endeavour, but it is actually incredibly resourceful. Purchasing a wood-burning stove in Summer is most certainly a great idea. So why not try it yourself, and allow yourself to focus on the more important things this holiday season.
